If you love living in an arts community, then join us in creating new artists! In the heart of Delray Beach, Florida lies one of the most vibrant arts communities in the country. The Plumosa School of the Arts is the only K-8 school in the area dedicated to nurturing the budding talents of local students. Plumosa differentiates itself from most “choice” schools as over 80% of its students are from the surrounding neighborhood, and most of these students are eligible for free or reduced lunch. Because of this, many of the students’ parents are unable to provide their children with necessary support system to take full advantage of what Plumosa has to offer.

This is where we come in. Our Foundation was formed to support future creative forces. Imagine if a young Baryshnikov was unable afford the proper shoes to dance. Or If Yo-Yo Ma couldn’t secure a secure a cello case, or if Andrew Lloyd Webber was never exposed to the theatre. Our Foundation raises funds in order to provide Plumosa’s students with instruments, costumes, private lessons, scholarships, trips to professional theatrical events and more.

The mission of our Foundation is to provide students with a complete arts education so they can grow in confidence, excel in school and become dynamic members of our community.

Who we are

Our mission is to be dedicated partners to Plumosa parents. Our board is an additional support system for their children, helping them to achieve their goals without the worry of financial obstacles.

Our Foundation was established in 2010 and is comprised of educators, business leaders, cultural visionaries and community members who are committed to seeing our kids succeed.

The board meets several times a month to assess the current challenges of the students at Plumosa and then distributes the funds to meet those needs accordingly.

The board also plans and orchestrates fundraising events, seeks underwriting sponsorships and performance viewing opportunities for the students.

What we do

Most Plumosa families are unable to provide their children with private lessons, instruments and tickets to see professional performances. This lack of additional support for an arts student, puts them at a serious disadvantage.

We erase that disadvantage.

The board raises funds through coordinating special events and seeking sponsorships.

These funds are then used to pay for musical equipment, costumes, scholarships for private lessons, opportunities to learn from college level and professional artists, trips to professional performances and alumni support.
